Utility Plant Operator (Certified)
Part-Time Temp

Department: Public Works
Compensation: $15.15 hourly
Hours: Days - Alternate weekends/Holidays/
                    approximately 32 hours per month
Required Drivers License: Valid Florida Drivers License
Required Certifications: Class “C” Wastewater License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operating a wastewater treatment plant; performing basic chemical and bacteriological tests; preparing and maintaining records on facility systems and operations. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Utility Plant Supervisor.

  • Makes regular tours of plant and equipment performing plant operations

  • Monitors gauges, meters, control panels and SCADA systems

  • Maintains operating records and logs; calibration data and process control information

  • Records readings from meters and instrumentation

  • Determines operating conditions / makes corrective and preventative changes in plant process

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of a wastewater treatment plant

  • Knowledge of SCADA system use

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to wastewater treatment

  • The ability to read meters charts and accurately maintain records of shift operations
